Minority Senator Francis Pangilinan advised the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to reprimand National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) spokesperson Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade, Jr., “for conduct unbecoming an officer and for violating civilian supremacy over the military.”
The Senate passed on third and final reading Senate Bill 1564 or the “Bayanihan to Recover as One Act” (Bayanihan 2) a day after President Rodrigo Duterte called for its passing during his 5th State of the Nation Address.
“Instead of laying down a comprehensive plan for the country to combat COVID-19, the President opened his SONA by assailing his critics and ranting about his personal grudge against the media. Clearly, walang maayos na plano.”
“The high degree of corruption within PhilHealth must be stopped. It has reached a level akin to a state of emergency,” Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon said.
