The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases agreed to revise the community quarantine labels of the two areas in its May 6 meeting, Palace spokesman Harry Roque said.
President Rodrigo Duterte has placed Metro Manila under general community quarantine (GCQ) from Nov. 1 to 30.
“Escalation of community quarantine levels shall be reserved as a last resort to address the rising Covid-19 situation in [local government units’] jurisdiction,” the resolution read.
Aside from Metro Manila, GCQ will also be imposed in Batangas, Tacloban, Bacolod, Iligan and Iloilo City which was previously under MECQ.
The Department of Health (DOH) insisted that the implementation of a community quarantine in the Philippines, or even in specific areas, should be based on science.
