The Philippines logged 3,483 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, increasing the nationwide tally to 224,264, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The Philippines ranks 4th in the world for the most number of new Covid-19 infections in a day behind India (6,939 cases), Russia (4,729 cases), and Mexico (3,719 cases).
The top five areas in the country with the highest number of new Covid-19 infections are Metro Manila with 1,824; Laguna with 223; Cavite with 184; Rizal with 161; and Batangas with 126.
Currently, there are 62,655 active Covid-19 cases undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 91.3 percent are mild, 6.3 percent are asymptomatic, 1 percent are severe, and 1.4 percent are in critical condition.
The country’s recovery rate posted an impressive 464 more patients winning the fight against the respiratory illness, elevating the tally of Covid-19 survivors to 158,012.
