The Philippines’ caseload for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has increased to 316,678 after the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Friday 2,611 new infections.
This marks the 4th consecutive day where new cases posted did not exceed the 3,000 mark.
Bulk of the new cases still came from Metro Manila with 1,084; followed by Cavite with 202; Iloilo with 182; Bulacan with 163; and Rizal with 132.
Currently, 56,445 active Covid-19 cases are still undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 87 percent are mild, 8.8 percent are asymptomatic, 1.3 percent are severe, and 2.9 percent are in critical condition.
The DOH also confirmed 416 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness, raising the recovery rate to 254,617.
Death toll, on the other hand, stands at 5,616 with 56 new fatalities.
