Ang Facebook page na “Rodante Marcoleta Supporters Live” ay nag-recycle ng fact-checked video noong Aug. 26 na maling nagpapakalat ng kwento tungkol sa umano’y “totoong” plano ni dating diktador Ferdinand Marcos na magprint ng gold-back currency.
Ang na-fact check na video, na mayroon nang 300 shares, ay naglalaman ng mga conspiracy theories na walang basehan na gusto daw paunlarin ni Marcos ang ekonomiya ng Pilipinas gamit ang gold-backed currency, ngunit ito ay pinigilan ng mga global financial institutions. Itinuro nito ang “Letter of Instruction” (LOI) noong July 15, 1983 para sa pagprint ng “Ang Bagong Lipunan Peso Bills or Currency.”
Ngunit, base sa aming pagsusuri ng Official Gazette, wala rito ang nasabing LOI.
