Maling sinabi sa isang bidyo ng Facebook Page na “BBM SARA Tv’s” noong Hulyo 31 na ang dating diktador na si Ferdinand Marcos ay hiniling sa kongreso ang pagdedeklara ng Batas Militar noong 1972.
Ang maling sanaysay ay matatagpuan sa kapsyon ng bidyo: “MARTIAL LAW bakit nga ba hiniling ng ating dating Pangulo sa kaniyang legislatura na mag declare ng Martial law o batas militar..itoy upang mapigilan ang kaguluhan at ang pag dami ng mga makakaliwang grupo..”
Gayunpaman, hindi kailangan ni Marcos ang pagsang-ayon ng kongreso upang ideklara ang pamamahalang militar sa ilalim ng kaniyang Proclamation 1081.
Ang 1935 Constitution ay nagbigay kay Marcos ng legal na batayan upang “ilagay ang buong bansa sa ilalim ng Martial Law.”
Tuluyan din niyang sinuspinde ng charter at na-dissolve ang senado at House of the Representatives.

Ang bagong konstitusyon ay nagbabawal sa pagsususpinde ng konstitusyon at mga korte. Sa ilalim ng charter ng 1987 ay pinayagan din ang Kongreso na bawiin ang proklamasyon ng batas militar at binigay sa Korte Suprema ang pagsusuri nito.
