President Rodrigo Duterte’s performance rating rose to 91 percent amid the Covid-19 pandemic, results of a Pulse Asia survey conducted from Sept. 14 to 20 showed.

Duterte’s score increased by 4 points from 87 percent in December 2019.

His disapproval rating was at 5 percent while 5 percent of respondents were undecided.

Pulse Asia said it conducted face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adult Filipinos for the survey.

Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo earned a 57-percent approval rating. She recorded the highest disapproval rating among top national officials, at 22 percent.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III registered the second-highest performance rating of 85 percent, trailed by House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano with 70 percent.

Palace spokesman Harry Roque said Duterte’s score was the result of the president “doing everything he can” for his countrymen amid the pandemic, and not politicking.

Roque also took a swipe at Robredo for having a low rating.

John Ezekiel J. Hirro
