The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced Thursday the activation of a tracking system for all overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) intending to return to the Philippines during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The OFW Assistance Information System (Oasis) will facilitate the repatriation of OFWs and help the government prepare for their arrival, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said.

The system will track the whereabouts of returning OFWs and provide prompt assistance and relief upon their arrival in the country.

It will help identify and classify arriving OFWs for better facilitation of airport arrivals, swab testing, pickup and transport to their respective hotels and homes and other necessary processes, DOLE said.

To be tracked, home-bound OFWs need to register online through oasis.owwa.gov.ph. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
