Kamakailang nag-upload ang YouTube channel ni Dante Maravillas na “Dante Talks” ng isang video kung saan tinalakay niya ang aniya’y “matinding rebelasyon ni Ms. Marcos” sa isang panayam sa the Daily Tribune.
Ang madalas na content ng channel na ito ay kalimitang pro-Marcos.
Sa 15:19 timestamp ng video, pinaliwanag ni Maravillas na noong unang naupo bilang presidente si Ferdinand Marcos Sr. ay “walang hustisya at demokrasya” sa bansa.
Dagdag pa niya, ang dating diktador pa daw ang nagdala ng demokrasya, kalayaan, at hustisya para sa lahat ng Pilipino na ayon sa kanya ay deka-dekada nang inaalipin ng mga oligarchs.

Ayon sa Committee to Protect Journalists, mabilis nakuha ng media sa Pilipinas ang reputasyon bilang “the freest press in Asia” noong 1950s, ilang taon matapos ipagkaloob ng United States ang kalayaan sa bansa, kung saan maraming mga Pilipinong journalists ang nagsisimula nang magsagawa ng investigative journalism para mailantad ang kurapsyon sa loob ng gobyerno.
Dito pa lang ay kaya nang patunayan na hindi totoo ang pahayag ng video na si Marcos Sr. ang naghatid ng “democracy, freedom, and justice.”
Samantala, sinangayunan na rin ng iba’t ibang mga historian at analyst na lumala ang estado ng demokrasya at freedom of speech noong termino ng dating diktador. Ilang media institutions, kabilang ang ABS-CBN, ang tinarget at kinontrol. Inaresto rin ang mga kilalang journalist at media owners na sina Teodoro Locsin Sr., publisher ng Philippines Free Press, at Manila Times publisher na si Chino Roces. Maraming kaso ng harassment at pagtorture sa journalists ang naitala noong termino ni Marcos Sr. bilang presidente.
