Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo would not be at Batasang Pambansa during the 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte, but would attend the event virtually.

On her Sunday radio show, Robredo said the invitation sent to her was to attend the SONA via the Zoom webconferencing application.

“Hindi ako imbitado sa House of Representatives, Ka Ely. Iyong na-receive namin na invitation ay Zoom, so iyon iyong pupuntahan ko,” Robredo told radio anchor Ely Saludar.

Robredo stressed that she would be present, albeit virtually, because it was part of her “obligation.”

The vice president said that other than the Covid-19 economic recovery plan, she expected to hear the president report the government’s plan to “arrest” the rising cases of infections in the country.

“So hopefully, tomorrow, kumpletong ilalahad…hindi lang recovery plan pero— maa-appreciate natin iyong recovery plan, pero ang problema kasi…patuloy pa din iyong pagtaas ng kaso, so gusto nating marinig ano ba iyong plano natin para ma-arrest iyong pagtaas ng kaso,” Robredo said. Veracel Martinez
