Tropical Depression “Ulysses”, with an international code name “Vamco,” has intensified into a tropical storm, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PASASA).
According to the weather agency’s 5 p.m. bulletin, Ulysses intensified into a tropical storm at 2 p.m. today. PAGASA added that the storm may fall under a Severe Tropical Storm category within 24 hours and may be placed under Typhoon category on Wednesday.
At 4 p.m. the center of Ulysses was seen at 575 km East of Borongan City, Eastern Samar moving northwestward at 15 km/h and with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h.
The weather agency also forecasted that the typhoon will turn westward and head towards the Bicol Region-Quezon area and will make landfall on Thursday. RJ Espartinez
