Two staff members of Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales confirmed.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases at the House of Representatives to 39.
Montales said the first staffer last reported for work on July 28. The employee later showed Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, cough body pains and loss of smell.
Montales said both employees went on voluntary quarantine.
He added that they have conducted contact tracing. It is not clear if Speaker Cayetano also underwent testing. Rommel F. Lopez
