Tuguegarao City is placed back in a 10-day enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) for this city starting Wednesday, Jan. 20, to curb the rising number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.

The city registered 84 new Covid-19 cases in January 16, the highest single day caseload since the pandemic began.
Tuguegarao City has 246 Covid-19 cases as of Monday, January 18.

Mayor Jefferson Soriano issued an Executive Order 14 placing the city under ECQ.

Soriano said the city will implement strict quarantine measures in areas with high incidence of Covid.

Only essential businesses will be allowed to operate with a 50-percent workforce. Dine-in at restaurants would be prohibited

A liquor ban will also be imposed during the ECQ.

Soriano stressed that classes would continue, and teachers would be allowed to report for work and distribute modules.

The Cagayan provincial government started conducting aggressive community PCR testing in Tuguegarao and nearby municipalities, Wednesday, January 20 targeting to reach 3,000 people by Friday, January 22.  Rommel F. Lopez
