The White House has announced that the US ambassador to Manila, Korean-American senior diplomat Sung Kim, will move to Indonesia.

Kim’s new assignment was announced by the Trump administration hours after the American embassy denied reports that State Department official Mina Chang would be the new envoy to Manila.

Kim had served as ambassador to South Korea, special envoy for the six-party nuclear talks, director of the Office of Korean Affairs, special representative for North Korea Policy, and deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs.
