A Facebook user falsely claimed in a Facebook post on Aug. 22, Monday, that the Office of the Press Secretary had announced that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had appointed several current and former journalists to key positions in state-owned and -controlled media. The post also erroneously claimed that Marcos Jr. appointed other officials to various departments and agencies.

The post also tagged the Facebook accounts of news organizations and journalists.
No less than Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles issued a denial.
“This is not true. I made no such announcement,” Angeles said in her comment.
