Broadcast journalist Ted Failon is set to leave the ABS-CBN network and will make his final appearance on “TV Patrol” and “Failon Ngayon sa TeleRadyo” on Aug. 31.
The network confirmed his departure in a statement released on Sunday.
“The closure of ABS-CBN’s radio broadcast operations led to his painful decision and we respect it. We admire Ted’s talent, passion, and commitment to radio as his most effective medium in serving the Filipino people,” ABS-CBN said.
“We thank Ted for his many years of dedication and service as a Kapamilya broadcast journalist. He will always be a Kapamilya. We wish him well on his journey,” the network said.
The announcement came after ABS-CBN’s regional stations went off the air on Aug. 25, leaving regional staff jobless.
Failon, who was with the network for 30 years, is known for co-hosting “TV Patrol,” the Philippines’ most popular news program, with former vice president Noli de Castro and Bernadette Sembrano. He co-presented with de Castro the radio news program “Radyo Patrol Balita Alas-Siyete.”
Failon hosted his own investigative program “Failon Ngayon” which ran for 11 years and was nominated for Best Domestic Current Affairs Documentary by the Association for International Broadcasting in 2013.
The network has been off the air since early May. It moved some of its television and radio operations to digital platforms.
