The government is working on guidelines for areas to be placed under “new normal,” the lowest among quarantine classifications, Malacañang said on Monday.
“(President Duterte) approved the (GCQ) classification of the National Capital Region (NCR), Santiago City, Batangas, Tacloban City, Iligan City, Lanao del Sur, Davao City and Davao del Norte,” Roque said.
Aside from Metro Manila, Isabela, Santiago City, Batangas, Iloilo, Tacloban City, Lanao del Sur, Iligan City, Davao City and Davao del Norte will also be under GCQ.
These events could be held at up to 30 percent capacity of venues, Malacañang said.
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III explained that placing Metro Manila and other areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) is the government’s way to prevent the potential spike of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases during the Christmas season.
