According to Alice Visperas, director of the International Labor Affairs Bureau, the DOLE had requested Covid-19 vaccines from the UK and Germany and offered to ease the country’s limit on the overseas deployment of health workers set at 5,000 per year.
The Department of Foreign Affairs announced that a total of 139 Filipinos arrived in the Philippines from Myanmar amid the Southeast Asian nation’s current travel restriction and tense political situation.
The commitments were for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Covid-19 response fund and global Covid-19 vaccine initiative Covax.
