The SOCCSKSARGEN Region continues to be free from the deadly 2019 coronavirus respiratory disease (COVID-2019), according to local health authorities.

The DOH-Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit has reported 61 individuals being monitored (PUM) for possible COVID-19 infection while three others were reported as persons under investigation (PUI), according to Arjonh Gangoso, spokesperson of the Department of Health (DOH) in Region 12.

Out of the 61 PUMs, 48 have already been cleared for COVID-19 after completing the 14-day mandatory quarantine period.

13 are still completing their quarantine period at local hospital facilities in General Santos City, South Cotabato and North Cotabato.

Gangoso added that two of the three PUI cases have already tested negative based on confirmatory tests, while the remaining case is still under investigation at a local health facility.

He emphasized that SOCCSARGEN, which is comprised of the provinces of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani and the cities of General Santos and Cotabato, is still free from the deadly COVID -19 infection. (RJ Espartinez)
