Viewers can now see the bestselling author Leigh Bardugo’s “Grishaverse” come to life on Netflix as “Shadow and Bone” premieres on April 23.
Based on the first book of the “Grisha” trilogy and the first book of the “Six of Crows” duology, “Six of Crows,” the show follows Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), an orphan who possesses an extraordinary power that could change her war-torn country’s destiny.
But as the Shadow Fold lingers and trains with magical soldiers known as Grisha to control her powers, Alina realizes that nothing in this world is as it seems.
The series will have eight episodes with each episode lasting around an hour.
The show’s creator, Eric Heisserer (“The Conjuring 2” and “Bird Box”), will be the head writer and executive producer with Bardugo herself joining the executive producer team.
Shawn Levy of 21 Entertainment, Pouya Shahbazian (“Divergent” series), Dan Levine (“Arrival”), Dan Cohen (“Killing Gaza”), and Josh Barry (“Books of Blood”) complete the pool of executive producers of the show.
Also joining the show are Ben Barnes (“The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”), Archie Renaux (“Feline”), Amita Suman (“Doctor Who”), and Kit Young (“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”).
