DAVAO CITY – Don’t be surprised if it would take you a while when you bring your vehicle into the Davao City International Airport.
This is due to the stricter vehicle screening procedure being implemented at all entrances of the airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)-Davao,Task Force Davao and other security agencies after the Sulu bombings, which the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police have confirmed as the work of suicide bombers.
Airport Manager Rex Obcena said CAAP won’t take chances considering the increasing number of local and international passengers flying in and out of the Davao airport and the recent Sulu bombing.
“Right now we are enhancing our security measures, especially in the initial vehicle screening area,” he said.
Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio also said she wants security measures in the airport to be similar to that of Singapore’s Changi airport. (Rommel F. Lopez with Davao City Information Office)
