PLDT High Speed Hitters overpowered Akari Chargers in a 25-15, 25-19, 25-22 demolition to pocket their first win in Premier Volleyball League Invitational last July 1.

National Team member Dell Palomata lifted the High Speed Hitters after chipping in 14 markers from 10 attacks, 3 blocks, and an ace.

Jovy Prado and Mich Morente, who reinforced Palomata in the scoring, produced 13 points and 12 points, respectively.

The High Speed Hitters capitalized on the unforced errors of the Chargers in the first set as they enjoyed a 13-point lead, 18-5.

Dindin Manabat of Akari tried to roar back after two successful attacks, but PLDT was just too much for them as Palomata sealed the set with a quick attack, 25-15.

The High Speed Hitters and Chargers went on a see-saw battle in the opening of second set, 3-3, but PLDT snared the momentum and posted a 6-0 run, 9-4.

Eli Soyud was a revelation for Akari as she scored twice in a row through a block and a down-the-line attack, but Morente and Jessey De Leon of PLDT were a nightmare for them as they fell short from the second set, 19-25.

PLDT commenced the third set with an early two-point lead but was foiled after three consecutive errors, 4-4.

Trisha Genesis anchored Akari after scoring five points in the third set but not enough to cut down the lead of PLDT as Erika Santos ended the match with a block, 25-22.

Manabat led the scoring department for Chargers after racking up 10 points, provided much-needed support by Genesis with 8 points and Ezra Madrigal with 7 points. Gian Rowelle Erenia
