The Department of Health reports 2,825 new COVID-19 cases. The Philippines now has 329,637 total cases.

The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally neared the 330,000-mark after the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Wednesday 2,825 new infections.

Total cases now stand at 329,637. This marks the third straight day where new cases posted did not exceed the 3,000 mark.

Bulk of the new cases were still recorded in Metro Manila at 1,031; followed by Cavite with 243; Batangas with 238; Bulacan with 173; and Rizal with 159.

Currently, 49,989 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 85.9 percent are mild, 9.4 percent are asymptomatic, 1.5 percent are severe, and 3.3 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate has increased to 273,723 after the DOH confirmed 437 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, stands at 5,925 with 60 new fatalities.

“Moreover, 14 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH added.

The Philippines currently sits on the 19th spot in the world for the most number of Covid-19 cases. The top 3 countries are the USA (7,724,725), India (6,757,131), and Brazil (4,970,953).
