The Philippines posted a new all-time high of 8,773 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 693,048.

Amid the surge, the Department of Health (DOH) said six Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.

This marks the second time that the daily infections reported exceeded the 8,000 mark.

With this, the number of active cases rose to 99,891, the highest recorded this year.

Among the numbers, 95 percent are mild, 3 percent are asymptomatic, 0.8 percent are severe, and 0.8 percent are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 580,062 with 574 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 13,095 with 56 new fatalities.

The DOH also confirmed that thirty-sex duplicates were removed from the nationwide count.

“Moreover, 7 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald dela Cruz
