The Philippines reported 7,485 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 1,293,687.

Today marks the second consecutive day where new Covid-19 cases reported exceeded the 5,000 mark.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), four Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.

Currently, there are 56,921 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment and quarantine: 92.6% are mild, 3.2% are asymptomatic, 1.7% are severe, and 1.3% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 1,214,454 with 4,504 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, stands at 22,312 with 122 new fatalities.

The DOH also announced that it successfully removed 15 duplicate cases from the nationwide tally. 

“Moreover, 65 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald Espartinez
