The Philippines reported 5,414 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases, pushing the nationwide tally to 1,332,832.

Today’s caseload marks the seventh consecutive day where new Covid-19 infections reported exceeded the 5,000 mark.

Currently, there are 56,170 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment and quarantine: 91.4% are mild, 4% are asymptomatic, 1.9% are severe, and 1.3% are in critical condition.

The Department of Health (DOH) also announced that there 1,253,541 recoveries with 7,637 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, stands at 23,121 with 158 new fatalities.

The DOH also said that 11 cases were removed from the nationwide count. 

“Moreover, 375 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases, and 117 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald Espartinez
