The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) daily tally reached a new record high of 2,921, pushing the nationwide total caseload to 574,247.

This is the highest number of new infections in a day since October 16 last year that registered 3,139 infections, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

Currently, there are 37,093 active Covid-19 cases undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 89.2 percent are mild, 6.1 percent are asymptomatic, 2 percent are severe, and 2.1 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate inches to 524,865 with 293 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.  

Death toll, on the other hand, increased to 12,289 with 42 new fatalities. Ronald dela Cruz
