The Philippines reported 104 new cases of the Omicron subvariants BA.5, BA.4, and BA.2.12.1 according to the latest genome sequencing, the Department of Health (DOH) said. 

DOH Officer-in-Charge Ma. Rosario Vergeire said via a press briefing that there are 95 new BA.5 cases. Among the said number, 16 of them came from Davao Region, 25 from Soccsksargen, and one each from Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the National Capital Region.

The health department said that the 83 new BA.5 cases have recovered, five of them are isolating, while seven of them are still under verification. 

Meanwhile, seven more people tested positive for the BA.4 subvariant. Among the said number, five of them came from Soccsksargen and two from Davao Region.  The DOH said that all of them have already recovered. 

Lastly, two more BA.2.12.1 cases have been reported in Davao Region. Both have also recovered.
