The Philippines on Saturday reported 1,223 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,660,020. 

The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that all Covid-19 laboratories were operational since February 24. However, four laboratories failed to submit their reports on time. 

Among the new cases reported, 1,179 or 96% happened within the recent 14 days from February 13 to February 26, 2022.

The National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions in the country with the most number of cases at 271 or 23%; followed by Region 6 with 159 or 13%; and Region 4-A with 152 or 13%.

Currently, there are 53,934 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 597 are asymptomatic, 48,842 are mild, 2,780 are moderate, 1,417 are severe, and 298 are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 3,549,735 with 2,400 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, increased to 56,351 with 128 new fatalities. 

The health department said 95 duplicates were removed from the nationwide count. Among the said number, 80 were recoveries and one was a fatality. Ronald Espartinez
