The total coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the Philippines neared the 250,000 mark after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Thursday 3,821 new infections.

This marks the 3rd consecutive day where new Covid-19 cases exceeded the 3,000 mark bringing the total cases to 248,947.

The top areas in the country with the most number of new infections reported Thursday are Metro Manila with 2,079; followed by Rizal with 286; Cavite with 174; Laguna with 168; and Bulacan with 142.

Currently, 58,823 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 88.3 percent are mild, 8.8 percent are asymptomatic, 1.2 percent are severe, and 1.7 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate elevated to 186,058 with 563 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness. 

Death toll is now at 4,066 with 80 new fatalities.
