The Philippines on Thursday reported 1,745 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,657,342.
The Department of Health (DOH) said all Covid-19 laboratories were operational since February 22. However, three laboratories failed to submit their reports on time.
Among the new cases reported today, 1,250 or 72% of cases happened within the recent 14 days from February 11 to February 24, 2022.
The National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions with the most number of cases at 235 or 19%; followed by Region 4-A with 153 or 12%; and Region 7 with 133 or 11%.
Currently, there are 55,079 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 637 are asymptomatic; 49,927 are mild; 2,788 are moderate; 1,428 are severe and 299 are critical.
Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 3,546,098 with 2,045 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 55,165 with 188 new fatalities.
The health department confirmed that 112 duplicates were removed from the nationwide count. Among the said number, 104 are recoveries. Ronald Espartinez
