The Philippines registered 15,592 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 2,417,419.

Amid the surge, the Department of Health (DOH) announced that four Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their reports on time. 

Today’s infection brings the active cases in the country to 162,580. 

Among the said number, 92% are mild, 3% are asymptomatic, 1.5% are severe, and 0.7% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 2,217,611 with 24,059 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness. 

Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 37,228 with 154 new fatalities. 

The DOH also confirmed that it removed 88 duplicate cases from the nationwide count, while 89 cases previously declared as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after verification. Ronald Espartinez
