The Philippines reported 1,399 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections from April 25 to May 1.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the new case load rate is 5 percent lower than the infections reported in the previous week. 

The DOH’s weekly case bulletin stated that the daily case average for the week stood at 200. 

There are also 723 severe and critical infections currently under medication in hospitals. 

The DOH also reported 215 new verified fatalities last week. Among the said number, 40 of them happened between April 18 to May 1. 

Of the 215 deaths, 56 occurred in April 2022 (26.0%), 6 in March 2022 (2.8%), 16 in February 2022 (7.4%), 13 in January 2022 (6.0%), 2 in December 2021 (0.9%), 10 in November 2021 (4.7%), 9 in October 2021 (4.2%), 31 in September 2021 (14.4%), 27 in August 2021 (12.6%), 5 in July 2021 (2.3%), 7 in June 2021 (3.3%), 8 in May 2021 (3.7%), 10 in April 2021 (4.7%), 9 in March 2021 (4.2%), 1 in December 2020 (0.5%), 2 in October 2020 (0.9%), and 2 in September 2020 (0.9%). — Ronald Espartinez
