The Philippines’ caseload for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has exceeded the 370,000 mark after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Sunday 2,223 new infections. 

The nationwide tally stands at 370,028.

Bulk of the new cases came from Metro Manila, the nation’s pandemic center, at 537; followed by Region 4A with 397 cases; and Region 3 with 165 cases. 

The country’s recovery rate spiked to 328,036 after the DOH announced 14,944 more patients surviving the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll stands at 6,977 with 43 new fatalities: 16 cases (37%) from the National Capital Region; eight cases or 19% from Region 4A; three cases or 7% from Regions 5, 6, 7, 10, and 11.

“Moreover, 11 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” the DOH said in a bulletin.

The Philippines stays on the 20th spot in the world for the most number of Covid-19 cases, trailing behind neighbor Indonesia which is on the 19th spot with 389,712 cases.
