A buy-bust operation in Taguig city Friday night resulted in the confiscation of some P81.6 million worth of illegal drugs and the killing of two suspects.

Retrieved from two suspects were 12 packs of dangerous drugs, suspected to be shabu, concealed in Chinese tea bags and weighing 12 kilos, with an estimated value of P81.6 million.

In a statement national police chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa said, “We will be relentless in our pursuit of criminals even as we are facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The two suspects, Ryan Labanderia, 26 years old and Ervyn Querobin, 35 years old, fled the scene when they sensed that they were dealing with law enforcers. Operatives chased them, resulting in an armed encounter that killed both suspects, police said.

The operation was jointly undertaken by the Metro Manila operatives and the Drug Enforcement Group at about 7 p.m. on C6 Road in Lower Bicutan.

The P1 million buy-bust money was recovered from the crime scene together with a blue Toyota Altis with plate number XNC 631, a black Nissan Navarra with no plate number, a 45-caliber pistol and a KG9 sub-machine gun.  (Jojo Mangahis)
