The Department of Health (DOH) said that nine of the highly infectious Delta coronavirus variant who already received the Covid-19 vaccine showed mild or asymptomatic infection.

Among the Delta variant cases, four are fully vaccinated, five got one dose, 24 were unvaccinated, and 86 still under investigation, according to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire

The DOH added that six of the nine Delta variant cases showed mild symptoms while three were asymptomatic.

Moreover, three of Delta variant fatalities were unvaccinated, while the health department is still checking if the lone death was vaccinated or not.

“Based on this, although we are saying na hindi pa naman po kumpleto ang pag-aaral, nakikita natin vaccines work,” she said in a briefing.

Vergeire cited anecdotal reports from hospitals and said that fewer health frontliners have been acquiring Covid-19 and most of them who do get sick are unvaccinated.

She also mentioned that the DOH is currently working on a “mino” study on the impact of Covid-19 vaccines on infections.  Ronald Espartinez
