Metro Manila will have a shortened curfew from 12 midnight to 4 a.m. instead of 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. starting June 15, according to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Benhur Abalos.

Abalos said during a virtual briefing that the new order was agreed upon by Metro Manila mayors last Sunday.

A resolution about the new curfew protocol will be released on Monday or Tuesday.

“Gusto ko nang i-announce ngayon para malaman ng lahat, nag-meeting ang mga mayors kagabi, nagkaroon kami ng votation… na starting June 15 in-adjust na ng Metro Manila mayors and curfew sa Metro Manila, hindi na po 10 p.m. kundi 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. na,” he said.

Abalos explained that this new ordinance will give people more time to visit malls and restaurants as the establishments are not required to close early.

“This will give more time sa mga taong kakain sa restaurant, sa mga malls na magbukas, sa travel time, at makatulong ng husto sa ating ekonomiya,” he said. Ronald Espartinez
