The transport department on Saturday alerted motorists of next week’s road traffic flow adjustments to give way to construction work on the MRT-7 railway project.

Three curved lanes near Elliptical Road and Commonwealth and going to North Avenue and Visayas Avenue will be transferred to inner lanes on July 28, the MRT-7 Traffic Management Task Force under the Department of Transportation and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said in a joint announcement.

“Meanwhile, starting July 31, 2020, vehicles will pass through curved lanes at Elliptical Road-North Avenue as the current construction fence at the side of Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) will be moved towards the middle lanes and the construction fence at the corner of North Avenue will be pushed back,” they said.

Motorists were instructed to stick to the yellow solid lane marking and not swerve to prevent traffic slowdown.

Next week, construction will start at the tunnel guideway near the proposed Quezon Memorial Circle Station, which will be completed by November 2020.

The 22-kilometer MRT-7 project, which will have 14 stations from North Avenue up to San Jose del Monte in Bulacan, was 59 percent complete as of June 2020. Jojo Mangahis
