The distribution of Covid-19 Food Security Program (FSP) food boxes to 700,000 families in Manila for the month of April began today.
On Sunday, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said Manila residents would receive monthly food subsidies.
“Nagsisimula na po ang pamamahagi natin ng nasabing food subsidy sa mga residente ng Balut, Tondo sa District 1,” Domagoso said.
He said that each food box contains 3 kilos of rice, 16 pieces of canned goods and 8 sachets of coffee.
The mayor also clarified that the assistance was different from the national government’s “ayuda” for Manileños.
About P1.4 billion has already been allocated for the Covid-19 FSPs until July.
Manila has also started distributing financial assistance to the beneficiaries.
“Dagdag pa rito, tuloy-tuloy din pong makatatanggap ng monthly cash allowance mula sa Pamahalaang Lungsod ang mga senior citizens, solo parents, at persons with disabilities,” the mayor said. Arvee Christine R. Biscocho
