
A magnitude 5.9 quake rocked the east of Balut Island in Sarangani, Davao Occidental late Tuesday morning.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the quake struck at 10:13 a.m. with its epicenter at 303 km south of Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental at a depth of 27 kilometers. It is tectonic in origin. The agency also said the quake was downgraded from magnitude 6.
No damage or aftershocks were expected, PHIVOLCS added.
