In a rare show of collaboration, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in Manila has donated funds to the Catholic Church to help in the renovation of the Holy Apostles Senior’s Seminary sports facility in the Archdiocese of Manila.

Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula gave a plaque of appreciation to LDS elders Steven Bangerter and Yoon Choi at the HASS Seminary in Makati on June 28.

In a Facebook post, the LDS church dubbed the occasion as “[a demonstration of] commitment to the holistic development of Roman Catholic priests.”

It said their church has “graciously provided a generous and substantial contribution” for good causes.

The Mormon church had pledged to renovate HASS seminary’s basketball court.

In a symbolic move, both figureheads of two denominations held a basketball while a plaque was put in place in the gymnasium to commemorate the partnership.

The seminary in Makati, meanwhile, was home to those who found the calling to serve the Catholic church late in their lives. Hurt Allauigan
