American pharmaceutical and consumer products giant Johnson & Johnson has applied for emergency use authorization (EUA) of its single-dose Covid-19 vaccine, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said on Monday.

FDA chief Eric Domingo confirmed the application of the vaccine to multiple media outfits on Monday.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been found to be 85 percent effective in protecting an individual from contracting severe Covid-19.

Citing a report from vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr., Palace spokesman Harry Roque said the country was expecting 5 million doses to arrive in the country by July 2021.

The FDA has so far approved the emergency use of the vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sinovac and Russia’s Sputnik V.
