A deportation case against a Chinese national who recently assaulted a cyclist and spat on a security guard has been filed according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Saturday.

According to the BI’s National Operations Center spokesperson and chief Melvin Mabulac, the Chinese national identified as Dong Li has been overstaying aside from displaying undesirability.

At the same time, ‘yung undesirability. Klarong klaro po sa social media—naging viral pa nga ‘yan—ang disrespect to authority,” he said.

Dong earned the spotlight on social media after a video of her assaulting a cyclist using an umbrella in Makati City became viral online. The video also showed Dong spitting on a security guard at a restaurant.

Makati Police responded and filed a criminal complaint of assault to persons in authority, physical injuries and disobedience to authorities versus Dong at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.

Later on, the Chinese national apologized and promised to follow Philippine laws.

“I’m sorry to Jefferson, I’m sorry to officers, I’m sorry to the Makati City government,” she said. “I promise to follow rules and laws of Philippines while I stay here,” she said.  (RJ Espartinez)
