A total of P4.14 billion in loans have been granted to some 60,000 government workers and pensioners nationwide by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

Based on a report by GSIS President Rolando Ledesma Macasaet, GSIS disbursed P3.48 billion in the form of “conso-loans,” policy loans and pension loans to 25,198 members and pensioners from March 27 and April 30.

A total of P664 million in emergency loans were granted to some 33,000 borrowers nationwide from April 13 to April 30.

The GSIS president announced a new loan program, saying, “Under the enhanced program, we now allow members who have in-default loan accounts (with arrears of more than six months) to renew their emergency loan.”

However, Macasaet said system delays might be encountered due to ongoing systems enhancements aside from the fact that this would be the first time the emergency loan would be offered nationwide.

Interested member and pensioners who would like to avail themselves of the Enhanced Covid-19 Emergency Loan must email these two requirements : (1) duly accomplished application form, which is downloadable from the website (https://www.gsis.gov.ph/ downloadable-forms), and (2) photo of the borrower holding their GSIS Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) card or temporary eCard, or two valid IDs and clear photos of the two valid IDs.

Loan proceeds may be withdrawn from the member’s UMID card or temporary eCard account. (Jojo Mangahis)
