The Philippine government and drug manufacturer Johnson & Johnson could come to a Covid-19 vaccine supply agreement this week, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said on Thursday.
“Inaayos na po natin ang supply agreement…Most likely this coming week baka mapirmahan po natin,” he told ANC’s Headstart.
Johnson & Johnson is one of three US-made Covid-19 vaccines being used to inoculate people worldwide, along with the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is administered in just one dose.
The Philippines’s Food and Drug Administration has yet to approve the vaccine brand for emergency use.
However, Galvez said the World Health Organization had granted it emergency use listing.
Because of this, it may be included in the Covax facility’s vaccine portfolio, he explained.
