Newly-appointed health undersecretary Camilo Cascolan took his oath Monday.

Cascolan, a former Philippine National Police chief, took his oath before Department of Health (DOH) officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire.

“Specific assignment will be issued through a Department Personnel Order (DPO) in the coming days,” the DOH said in a statement.

Cascolan’s appointment made public last month was met with backlash due to his lack of a medical degree.

He was the country’s top cop from September to November 2020 under the Duterte administration.

Cascolan was the brains behind the controversial anti illegal drugs program “Oplan Double Barrel.”
