More than 30 stalls were burned to the ground after a blaze hit a public market in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao late Tuesday night.
Fish and vegetable stalls and small eateries, mostly made of light materials were quickly burned. Fire Insp. Ysrael Kamid, town fire department chief said an explosion was heard before the blaze that happened around 11:28 p.m. at Barangay Dalican. No one was reported hurt.
He said the site of the blaze is about 400 meters away from the town police department, enabling them to quickly respond to the incident.
The blaze was out after 30 minutes.
He said fire probers are still in the area determining what caused the explosion that led to the blaze. Total damages was initially pegged at PHP150,000. (Rommel F. Lopez)
