A YouTube vlog made a false allegation that Sen. Risa Hontiveros wanted to help former Sen. Leila de Lima escape from prison

CLAIM: Sen. Risa Hontiveros wanted to help former senator Leila de Lima escape from prison.

This past February 27, a YouTube channel made a false allegation that Sen. Risa Hontiveros wanted to help former Sen. Leila de Lima escape from prison. 

Written in the video were the words ““RISA GUSTONG ITAKAS SI DELIMA! NILAMPASO NI MARCOLETA” . 

The video was taken from the YouTube channel of the Commission on Appointments during the confirmation hearing of Jesus Crispin Remulla as Justice Secretary last Sept. 14, 2022

In a statement released by Sen. Hontiveros in the official website of the Senate of the Philippines,  Hontiveros did not say that she wanted to help de Lima escape prison. Rather, she expressed her hope that de Lima would be released from prison soon given that several witnesses have recanted their accusations against the former senator. 

Hontiveros also said in a video shared in her official Facebook page that she hopes that  de Lima will be released from prison soon. She did not say that she help de Lima escape from prison.— Kevin Ortiz
