CLAIM: An Australian ship went to the Philippines for former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

A TikTok user uploaded a video falsely claiming that an Australian Navy ship went to the Philippines specifically for former President Rodrigo Duterte to see the vessel.

The Tiktok user “kuyaVER” uploaded on Monday, March 4, an old video of Duterte visiting the HMAS Adelaide, the largest vessel built for the Royal Australian Navy, docked at Manila Bay on Oct. 10, 2017.

With 1,152 views and 124 likes, the video carried the caption: “Australian ship pumunta ng Philippines para ipakita kay prrd. Grabi nag effort talaga”

However, contrary to the post, the HMAS Adelaide did not come for Duterte specifically. It came to Manila Bay as a regional deployment for the INDO-PACIFIC ENDEAVOUR 2017, where various activities were conducted to promote security and stability in Australia’s nearby regions.

HMAS Adelaide also went to Subic, where its crew members visited the Amazing Grace Refuge Home to play with the children, who all toured the Australian vessel. Rushelle Intia
