The Department of Public Works and Highways vowed to fast-track ongoing road network projects in Mindanao worth P25.26 billion.
The public works department on Friday vowed to fast-track three core road network projects in Mindanao worth P25.26 billion.
Secretary Mark Villar of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said the three projects were under the 230-kilometer “Improving Growth Corridors for Mindanao Road Sector Project” (IGCMRSP) supported by a loan obtained from the Asian Development Bank.
Villar said Undersecretary Emil Sadain of the Unified Project Management Office would closely oversee the three core major road projects, all in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Sadain pointed out that due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, civil works were temporarily stopped but catch-up measures were implemented.
The 23.73-kilometer (km.) Alicia-Malangas Road was at 24.47 percent completion while the 29.10 km. Lutiman-Guicam-Olutanga Road was at 30.86-percent completion.
In Zamboanga del Norte, the 15.07-km. Tampilisan-Sandayong Road was at 25.58 percent completion.
Projects scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter were the Siay-Gapol Road and Guicam Bridge in Zamboanga Sibugay; Curuan-Sibuco Road in Zamboanga City and Zamboanga del Norte; and the Gutalac-Baliguian Alternative Road and R.T. Lim-Siocon Road in Zamboanga del Norte, Sadain said. Jojo Mangahis
